Scott’s Biography

bio-content-headshot Scott is a Pittsburgh Pennsylvania native and is proud to be waving his Steelers “Terrible Towel” in New York City. He is a graduate of Point Park University’s Conservatory of the Performing Arts and holds a BFA in Musical Theater. He is also a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association. Point Park provided him with an amazing education as well as the opportunity to play numerous principal roles. Scott portrayed the Baron in Point Park’s “Grand Hotel” and the production won top honors from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) with the entire cast performing at the Kennedy Center in the illustrious Terrace Theatre. KCACTF is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide. That same year he was honored by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette as “One of Pittsburgh’s Best Actors”.

As a child, music was an interest from an early age, although oddly enough no one in his family can carry a tune in a bucket. At 8 years-old he reluctantly began taking classical piano lessons. After training for some time he slowly began to enjoy the lessons, excelling quickly and continuing training and competing in piano competitions all throughout high school.  It wasn’t until his freshman year of high school (while at a piano lesson) that he inadvertently discovered he could sing. Shortly thereafter he began vocal coaching with Carnegie Mellon alumnus Ed Beckwith.

After his first year in college he founded a non-profit theater company from the ground up entitled “Backyard Productions”. In two years he produced/directed/starred in two productions, “Jesus Christ Superstar” & “The Who’s Tommy”. These shows raised over $10,000 dollars and 100% of the proceeds went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. His efforts won him “Citizen of the Year”.

Pittsburgh has an amazing cultural core and provided Scott with many professional opportunities even prior to graduating college. He has performed with the Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theater, The Jewish Theater of Pittsburgh and many others. Also, his own “Billy Joel” style act has been seen at cabarets, theaters and clubs throughout the ‘Burgh’ and New York.

As a New York resident he has debuted an original dueling-piano cabaret called “Piano Forte” with fellow actor/musician David Abeles (“Million Dollar Quartet”), originally in conjunction with The Prospect Theater Company.  He has passed through several rounds of callbacks and eventually seen by the producers and creative teams for hit shows such as the 1st national tour of “Sweeney Todd” directed by John Doyle and the Broadway company of “Movin’ Out” and “Jersey Boys” where Scott had the honor to sing for Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio in person for the role of Frankie Valli. Travelling the globe for the past 2 years Scott has been keeping his falsetto chops in shape by singing the Frankie Valli track in a Four Seasons tribute group called “The Unexpected Boys”. In addition, he has also been blessed to have worked in regional theaters throughout the country.

Scott has always relished in the personal rewards of teaching performance technique to students. In New York City alone he has taught and accompanied at many of the major universities and theatrical institutions including NYU Tisch School, CAP21, Marymount Manhattan, Circle in the Square Theatre School, Queens College and many more.
